A full week after Sandy hit, we’re still feeling the impact of it. My parents got power back on Friday, and their clinic – which is also where my business’s internet server is run from – is still without power. I continue to remind myself that we are much more fortunate than those on Staten Island or down on the shore, but it is really frustrating to be so helpless in not being able to speed the recovery. The combination of taper week + no work to be able to be done left me really, really bored. I did get a lot of cleaning and odds and ends done around the house, including some projects I had been telling myself I’d do for months but never did. So, I guess thats good.
M: 60′ light on the trainer.
T: 4 mi run in the AM stretching the legs out. 2×20′ on the trainer in the evening, with only the first one hard, the second one fairly light.
W: 5 mi at HIM RP. Definitely felt very uncomfortable, with a much higher HR than I’d expect. Not sure what to chalk that up to, perhaps running in fairly cold weather, perhaps getting a cold (fingers crossed for a “no” on that one), perhaps just more stressed than I realized about everything.
R: 2 mi recovery run in the AM, swim in the evening. Got some good work in at the pool. Struggled to hit the splits on all of the 150s, but glad I got it done. SCY:
300 swim, 4×100 swim @ 75%, 200 pull, 4×50 @ build to race pace 85-90%
10×150 on 2:10
8×50 cool down with 10-15 seconds in between
F: Repeat of yesterday, so recovery run in the AM, swim in the evening. A sprint set, much more fun. SCY –
200 swim, 4×150 (50 kick, 50 drill, 50 perfect technique), 200 pull, 8×50 build to 95%
300 easy, 8×50 all out sprint on 2:00
S: 90′ tempo on the bike, with 10 miles @ HIM RP. It was COLD outside, and I was still feeling very very beat. I was glad to get in and lay on the couch, where I wouldn’t move from for the next 36 hours.
